I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Eötvös Loránd Unversity in Budapest and am working on my dissertation which concerns the Hungarian policy towards emigrés during the Kádár period. As the National Library of Hungary has an extension collection of books and periodical by the emigré community and the diaspora, I wonder if you would be able to send me some information via email as to whether the National Library of the Czech Republic on materials from its own diaspora has a similar collection for comparison.
National Library of the Czech Republic has no special collection of the literature written in exile. The books from the exile and also "samizdat" were incorporated in to the general collection and there is no possibility to separate these books even by means of electronic catalogue.
But there exists in Prague the library Libri Prohibiti specialized on exile and samizdat literature, which has the greatest collection of this type of literature in Czech Republic, comparable, as we think, to that of National Library of Hungary. All information about Libri Prohibiti you can find on
the www page of the library: http://libpro.cts.cuni.cz/EN/index_en.html.
